DIY Garbage Can Enclosure with Slatted Wooden Privacy Screens and Planters

Materials
3 slatted wooden privacy screens, approximately 6 feet tall
2 heavy square planters, at least 2 feet in height
Wood screws (1.5 inches)
Drill with screwdriver bit
Level
Measuring tape
Outdoor wood sealant or paint (optional)
Paintbrush (if using sealant/paint)
Directions
Measure the width of your garbage bins and the desired enclosure space. Ensure the planters and screens will adequately cover the area.
Position the two heavy square planters on either side of where you want the enclosure to start.
Align the first slatted wooden privacy screen with the back of the planters. Use the level to ensure it is vertically straight.
Drill pilot holes through the screen into the planter, then secure with wood screws.
Repeat the process for the second and third screens, forming a U-shape around the garbage bins.
Check the alignment and stability of the screens, adjusting as necessary to ensure a sturdy enclosure.
If desired, apply outdoor wood sealant or paint to the screens to protect them from weather and enhance their appearance.
Variations & Tips
For a different look, consider using planters in vibrant colors to add a pop of color to your yard. You can also stain the wooden screens to match other wooden elements in your outdoor space. If you prefer more greenery, select planters that allow for the integration of climbing plants or vines, which can grow up the screens over time, adding a lush, natural element to the enclosure. Experiment with different screen designs such as lattice or geometric patterns for a unique twist.
