DIY Sculptural Faux-Stone Garden Spheres

Materials
50 cardboard egg cartons
Thick liquid concrete mix (approximately 200 lbs)
Large mixing container
Protective gloves
Dust mask
Mixing stick or paddle
Plastic sheeting or tarp
Spherical molds (optional)
Bucket of water
Directions
Prepare your workspace by laying down plastic sheeting or a tarp to catch any spills.
Wear protective gloves and a dust mask before handling the concrete mix.
In a large mixing container, prepare the thick liquid concrete mix according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Submerge the first egg carton into the concrete mixture, ensuring it is fully coated. Repeat with all cartons.
If using spherical molds, place the coated egg cartons into the molds to form the desired shape. If not, shape them by hand, ensuring they are densely packed.
Allow the spheres to dry for at least 24-48 hours, depending on the environmental humidity and temperature.
Once dry, remove the spheres from the molds or gently peel away any excess carton material.
Place the finished spheres in your garden as desired.

Variations & Tips
For a different look, consider adding pigments to the concrete mix to create colored spheres that match your garden's color scheme. You can also experiment with different sizes by using various molds or cutting the egg cartons into smaller pieces. For added texture, sprinkle sand or small pebbles onto the wet concrete before it dries. Additionally, you can embed small decorative items like marbles or stones into the surface for a unique touch.
