Transform your old leather belts into stunning vintage drawer pulls with a twist. This DIY project is perfect for adding a rustic, vintage touch to any piece of furniture while giving a new lease of life to materials you might otherwise discard. By incorporating two surprising materials, you'll create a unique aesthetic that blends elegance with practicality in your home.
These vintage drawer pulls are perfect for rustic or industrial-style interiors. They pair beautifully with wooden furniture, especially when placed on distressed or reclaimed wood drawers. Consider using them in a kitchen with exposed brick walls or in a study with vintage decor elements. The warm tones of leather and tarnished brass complement neutral and earth-toned palettes, adding a subtle yet sophisticated touch.
Vintage Leather and Brass Drawer Pulls

Materials
Old leather belts (3 belts are ideal)
Tarnished brass screws (2 per pull)
Wooden dowels (½ inch diameter, cut into 4-inch sections)
Scissors
Drill with small drill bit
Sandpaper (medium grit)
Directions
Lay each leather belt flat on a sturdy surface. Use scissors to cut the belts into 6-inch sections, ensuring the ends are straight and even.
Take a wooden dowel and cut it into 4-inch sections if not pre-cut. Sand the edges of each dowel section to ensure a smooth finish.
Position a 6-inch leather section around the dowel, forming a loop with the ends meeting at the dowel's center. This will create the pull handle.
Drill a small hole through the leather at the point where it wraps around the dowel. Insert a tarnished brass screw through the hole, securing the leather to the dowel. Repeat on the opposite side.
Repeat steps 3 and 4 for each drawer pull you wish to create.
Mount the finished pulls onto your chosen drawers using the brass screws. Ensure they are evenly aligned for a professional finish.

Variations & Tips
For a more modern twist, consider using polished chrome screws instead of tarnished brass to create a sleeker look. Alternatively, you can experiment with dyeing the leather belts different colors to match specific decor schemes, such as using dark navy for a nautical theme or rich burgundy for a more classic feel.
