Garden Hose Planter Vase
Materials
Old garden hose, 10 feet (cut into 4-6 inch sections)
Metal baking pan
Hot glue gun with glue sticks (from dollar store)
Decorative stones or pebbles (from dollar store)
Directions
Cut the old garden hose into sections approximately 4-6 inches long.
Place the hose sections into a metal baking pan. Fill the pan with water to halfway cover the sections.
Place the pan on the stove and bring the water to a boil. Allow the hose sections to soften from the heat for about 10 minutes.
Carefully remove the softened hose sections and shape them into a tight coil while still warm. Hold in place until they cool and harden.
Using the hot glue gun, attach the coiled hose sections together in a circular pattern to form a vase shape, ensuring the base is flat and stable.
Once the vase structure is complete and the glue has set, fill the inside with decorative stones or pebbles to add weight and stability.
Variations & Tips
For a more colorful variation, consider spray-painting the hose sections before boiling them. Use colors that complement your existing decor, such as metallics for a modern look or pastels for a softer, more whimsical touch. Alternatively, wrap the coiled vase in twine or jute for an added layer of texture and a rustic finish. This can enhance the tactile quality of the piece and introduce an additional natural element to the design.
